Plenty in store for care home residents as corner shop comes to Parklands

A NEW shop has opened on the High Street in Buckie, but this one has an exclusive clientele.
Lipton's general store has opened at Parklands and Burnbank care homes, bringing the local corner shop experience direct to residents.
Operating from the garden summer house at Parklands and Burnbank, the not for profit shop offers a range of magazines, newspapers, sweets and toiletries for sale at a small cost.
The new venture was officially opened by Ishbel Taylor, mother of Parklands Care Homes managing director Ron Taylor. A former shopkeeper, Ishbel ran Milne’s newsagents in Buckie for 30 years.
The new shop was built with help from Tim Wright and Gary Johnson, whose partners Pamela and Emily work at the care home. Howden's of Buckie donated the worktop.
The shop is the idea of activities co-ordinator Lisa Toogood.
She said: “I would normally take our residents into town for their shopping but, with the current restrictions on outside visits, that isn’t possible.
"I thought it would be a nice idea instead to recreate the shopping experience and bring it closer to home since the residents enjoy it so much.
“It was lovely to see Mrs Taylor, who is a familiar and much loved part of the extended Parklands and Burnbank family, officially open our new shop.
“We are also grateful to Tim and Gary and the team and Howden's of Buckie for their help.”
