Next weekend will see the dedicated and talented artists at the group put their work, spanning a wide range of media, on show for the first time since 2019, the pandemic putting paid to the annual show over the summers of 2020 and 2021.

With the lifting of Covid regulations the group have bounced back and are raring to go for the exhibition, chairwoman Myra Craig said.

"This will be our 35th annual exhibition and we're all really enthusiastic and excited.

"We're looking to have around 120 pieces in a variety of media on display.

"We've been invigorated since we came back and are looking forward to the opening evening on Friday and the exhibition itself over Saturday and Sunday. We're delighted to have well respected sculptor, artists and teacher Norma Defoe opening the exhibition. Norman has been tutoring the group on a volunteer basis.

"This exhibition will also be the first time we have held it in the community centre and we're hoping that everyone who previously joined us in our previous location – the Memorial Hall – will make the short trip up the road to join us again. It's a super venue with lots of room to mingle and enjoy the art on show.

"During the we'll be serving refreshments, teas, coffees and homebakes and there'll also be a tombola and quiz for the children.

"Please come along, meet up with friends, enjoy the artwork on show and relax with a cuppa."

The opening evening will get under way at 7pm and run through until 9pm.

Over next weekend, the exhibition will be open 10am-5pm.

Mrs Craig noted that the group were always keen to welcome fresh faces to the fold.

She added: "The art group get together upstairs in Cullen Community Centre every Tuesday from 9am to 12 noon.

"We're always looking for more members and new ideas so come along for a few weeks and see if you like it.

"You'll be made very welcome."

Cullen Art Group go into their exhibition fresh off the back of their highly successful inaugural Community Big Paint Out a few weeks ago which saw people of all ages answer the invitation to pick up their easels and cover the magic of Cullen on canvas and paper. Support and encouragement on the day was provided by Lossiemouth High School art teacher Wendy Hay and experienced art group member John Rose.
