THE search is on for a local hero in Moray who makes a positive difference to the lives of others.
Moray MSP Richard Lochhead is asking the public to nominate someone in the region that deserves to be recognised for the important work they have done to help their community through the pandemic.
The individual selected as Moray’s local hero will be invited to the official opening of the Scottish Parliament due to be held in October.
Mr Lochhead is asking for nominations to be sent to his office by 5pm on Monday, August 16.
Launching his search, he said: “Moray has no shortage of local heroes who are always there for their community and who go above and beyond to improve the lives of their neighbours, and often without any recognition.
“The last year and a half has been the toughest time most of us will have lived through and I know that right across Moray there were people doing incredible things to help the most vulnerable and to keep our communities safe and together.
“The official opening of the Scottish Parliament in October gives us the opportunity to celebrate local heroes across Scotland and to recognise the efforts of people who are always there for their community.
“I’m looking forward to receiving nominations for our local hero in Moray and would encourage people to get in touch with my office if they have a friend or family member who should be recognised.
“The opening of our national parliament is always an exciting occasion, celebrating our democracy and this year, after all we’ve been through, it is right and important that the people of Scotland are at the heart of this special event.”
