Moray MP Douglas Ross meets senior Police Scotland officers

MP Douglas Ross held a "productive meeting" with Moray's senior police officer.
Mr Ross said he was able to discuss a number of issues raised by constituents with Chief Inspector Murray Main, the temporary area commander for Moray.
Commenting after the meeting which was held at Elgin Police Office, Mr Ross said: “It was good to meet with Ch Ins Main and also with Inspector Norman Stevenson who will be taking over from him soon.
“It was a very positive meeting and I was pleased to hear that crime rates have reduced and that detection rates are up, but there is still work to be done to make sure everyone in our communities feels safe. We particularly need to help those whose lives are blighted by anti-social behaviour.
“It is important to enter into close dialogue with the police as only by working together can we tackle the sorts of issues that really matter to the people of Moray.
"One thing we all agree on is that local officers and staff do their best across Moray. At times I feel they could be supported more by the national force, Police Scotland, but we are lucky to have such dedicated and professional officers and staff in Moray.
“Ch Insp Main and DI Stevenson gave me a very helpful briefing and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them in the future for the benefit of people the length and breadth of Moray."
