Police were alerted to the accident yesterday afternoon on the A98 Buckie to Fochabers road.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 3pm on Wednesday, September 21, police received a report of a one-vehicle road crash on the A98 near Fochabers.

"Emergency services attended and one man was airlifted to hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash."

It is believed that the vehicle left the road near the turn-off for Winding Walks which resulted in the driver being taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary via air ambulance.

Both police and two fire appliances attended the scene of the accident.

As a result of the incident the section of the road concerned was closed, reopening to traffic around two hours or so later.
