BUCKIE's RNLI lifeboat was launched earlier today following reports of a person in difficulty in the water.

A spokesman for the local lifeboat station said: "Buckie's RNLI lifeboat William Blannin was launched at 12.05pm today to assist the Coastguard who were dealing with reports of a person struggling in the water at a point just off the coast of Lossiemouth.

"However, the lifeboat was stood down about a mile out of Buckie at around 12.20pm and returned to her moorings."

For the Coastguard teams along the Moray Forth coast it was the latest callout in what has been a busy few days. Last Friday witnessed callouts to Hopeman and Roseisle beaches while on Sunday past teams, along with a Coastguard rescue helicopter, were called into action to rescue two teenagers on inflatable who were in difficulty.

Any member of the public who believes they have spotted a vessel or person in danger or difficulty around the coast should call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.
