Covid restrictions meant the annual convention, which brought together Christians of all denominations from far near and far, has not been held since 2019.

However, it is set to come roaring back over July 30-August 5 under the the banner of 'Hope in Hard Times'. Buckie North Church is once again poised to provide the main base for the event.

One of the biggest changes for this year's event is that there will be two, as opposed to three, guest speakers in the shape of Rev Abi Ngunga from St Andrew's Baptist Church and Rev John Risbridger, the pastor at Above Bar Church, Southampton.

During the convention Rev Ngunga will be addressing the theme of 'The Problem of Innocent Suffering' while Rev Risbridger will be looking at 'Our Place in God's Great Plan'.

KIB chairman Bill Mowat said: "It certainly is great to be back in person, that's been three years now since we last had a summer convention.

"There's been a lot of interest in it, which is encouraging.

"We did a weekend convention in November last year but we decided against doing an online, mainly because lots of churches were already doing a lot of things online at that time.

"One of the big differences this year people will notice is that we have two guest speakers rather than three as has traditionally been the case. The aim here is to try and space out the seminars a bit more for people.

"Another new feature for this summer which we hope will create some extra interest is the Praise and Worship Evening with John Alexander Wilson and friends, which is taking place in the Buckie Baptist Church on Friday, July 29 at 7pm.

"I think our overall theme of 'Hope in Hard Times' is especially relevant to the state of the world today, as are the themes Abi and John have chosen.

"We look forward to offering a warm welcome to all at Keswick in Buckie 2022 Summer Convention."

The convention proper kicks off on Saturday, July 30 at 7.30pm with the Evening Praise and Convention Meeting, with the Sunday also featuring an evening meeting. For the rest of the week, the timtable is: 9.30am – Mission and Prayer; 11am – Morning Worship and Bible Study; 7.30pm – Evening Praise and Convention Meeting.
