There have been two callouts in the space of four days for Buckie's RNLI lifeboat William Blannin.

The early hours of this morning/last Thursday morning saw the crew head to the Lossiemouth area, as a Buckie RNLI spokesman explained.

"Buckie's RNLI lifeboat William Blannin was launched at 1.05am on Thursday, September 10 after a red flare was spotted between Lossiemouth and Hopeman.

"The lifeboat conducted an extensive search of the area while Coastguard teams search the coastal area between the two points. However, nothing was found and the William Blannin was stood down, returning to Buckie at around 3.05am."

It was to be the second callout in a period of just four days for the volunteers. The evening of Sunday, September 6 the lifeboat launched after reports of a fishing boat, the Blue Sky, in difficulty around a mile off the coast of the Buckie.

On arrival, the lifeboat crew were told that the fishing vessel had experienced issues with rudder control. A tow was established and the Blue Sky was taken to the safety of Buckie Harbour.
