With Covid restrictions having seen the event held in abeyance last summer and the summer before, it will return in style on Sunday, July 31 getting under way at midday and running until 4pm.

As usual, there will be a wide range of stalls to choose from, including Cullen Sea School, Discover Cullen, the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre, the RNLI, Ocean Winds (Moray West Wind Farm) and many others.

There will be an opportunity for visitors to the gala to try their hand at different activities. Taster sessions will be on offer for stand up paddleboarding and kayaking, plus the chance to find out what it feels like to row in a St Ayles skiff. The skiffs will also be entertaining the crowd with some keenly contested races.

Cullen Sea School will be showing how these vessels are made with a boat building display.

Moray (East) Artist in resident Lynda Buchan will be on hand to demonstrate some traditional net-making skills. Also on the artistic front, there will be a display of the works produced by Cullen Art Group's successful Big Community Paint Out event recently.

Joining the fun at the harbour will be the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Buckie's RNLI lifeboat.

In addition to a packed programme, there will be teas, coffees and a barbecue.

One of those looking forward to the first harbour gala in three years was Cullen Sea School's Development and marketing Officer David McCubbin.

He said: The key thing for us is that this is the first gala since 2019, pre-pandemic, and we just wanted to get the event back up and running and build on it from 2023 onwards.

"A lot of people are still nervous about Covid-19 and its impact and community events are so important to allow people to re-connect and showcase our wonderful harbour."

The event is being sponsored by Moray West Wind Farm.
