The final touches are being put to this year's 2022 Deskford Flower Show, which is due to take place on the afternoon of Saturday, August 13. It will be the first show to be held since 2019 due to the regulations brought in to combat the pandemic.

One of the organisers, Maimie Mitchell, said: "We're delighted to be back after missing the last two years due to Covid.

"It was a later decision than usual about whether it would go ahead or not but we're delighted to be going ahead.

"Hopefully we'll get a good turnout and we're looking forward to seeing everyone again."

Mrs Mitchell added that due to the later decision as to whether to hold the show or not, it had not been possible to pass on the scholar section schedule to Cullen Primary School, meaning there will probably be fewer entries from younger folk this time around.

Entrants from the local area and further afield battle it out for the silverware in a number of categories, including flowers, floral art, baking, vegetables and industrial.

The event will be held, as usual, in the Deskford Community Hall, with doors opening at 2pm. The prizegiving is scheduled for 4pm.
