BUCKIE food bank has continued to experience unprecedented demand on its services as the Covid-19 lockdown passes the 100-day mark.

Over the past three months since lockdown was introduced on March 23 the food bank team, led by Findochty and Buckie Salvation Corps officers Majors Bruce and Isobel Smith, have been kept increasingly busy as people either lose their jobs or go into furlough.

Major Bruce Smith said: "Demand has trebled compared to the same period last year with 373 food parcels having been delivered to feed 829 individuals for a minimum of three days each.

"This has been achieved by a group of just six individuals, and supported by many others who have been fund raising for us.

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who continue to make this vital work possible."

Donations of food and cash are always welcome to help keep some of the most vulnerable in the local community fed at this time of crisis.

To donate, or for more information, contact the food bank on (01542) 832790 or via private message to the Buckie Salvation Army Facebook page.
