Gary McKay (30) is hoping to raise £2000 for the charity Guide Dogs through the challenge and is running in memory of his dad, Alan McKay, who passed away last year.

Gary, who works with Baxter’s Food Group in Fochabers, said: “Completing the London Marathon has been a lifetime goal of mine and this wonderful charity is giving me the opportunity to run for them.

“One of the reasons I wish to raise money for Guide Dogs is because of their hard work and their efforts supporting people with visual impairments.

“I want to help them continue their work for years to come, to assist people to become more independent and help with the daily struggles we can all take for granted.

“I’m also running for my dad, who I lost last year due to a terrible illness.

“I have already completed the Edinburgh Marathon this year. Although it was challenging at times, the cheering crowd helped me push through and the atmosphere was electric.

“No matter the amount people spare, it will all go towards improving the lives of people with a vision impairment. I understand that with the rise in the cost of living it may not be possible to donate a lot of money, but everything helps.”
