The end of August saw the show make an eagerly anticipated return to Linzee Gordon Park after a Covid-enforced absence last year. Around 450 cars and other vehicles were on display.

One of those delighted to see the show roaring back victoriously was Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam, who has lodged a motion congratulating the organisers and volunteers for the work they did in putting on a local spectacular local event. It also highlights the "significant societal benefits community events bring" to the area.

Ms Adam was one of the large numbers of attendees who flocked to the park on August 29 for the event.

She said: "The Buckie Classic Car Show is a really good example of the unique and fun events that take place along the Banffshire and Buchan coast.

"There was a huge level of participation with hundreds of classic vehicles turning up to be showcased for attendees.

“The event was so welcoming that I was able to take my own family along which was really worthwhile, particularly because the organisers of the event, such as John Clark, did a phenomenal job in pulling this together and making it an enjoyable family day out for those who attended.

“I was so impressed from the event that I was keen to do my part in recognising the incredible work put in by organisers and volunteers, not only for an enjoyable and educational day for all, but because they also raised thousands of pounds for charities, pulled people in from all over which of course is beneficial to our local economy and businesses here.

“The motion I have lodged in the Scottish Parliament is just a small token of thanks from me for the exemplary and commendable work organisers put in so once again, I want to extend a big thank you to the organisers. I’m really looking forward to the next one.”

Classic car show chairman John Clark said he and his fellow volunteers had been left "gobsmacked" by their parliamentary recognition.

"When we heard about Karen's motion we were gobsmacked and just really could not take it in that Karen would be so kind to do this," he continued.

"Also it's not just us mentioned in her motion but all the entrants and public that came out on the day and supported the show, as well as all the charity stalls and small traders who were there

"It's really good to see our MSP recognising the work and dedication that not only us but everyone that attended put in so that day could go ahead

"Karen was at the show with some of her family and she had a really good day. It's good to see our serving MSP attending events like this.

"This is very encouraging and gives us the motivation to make next year's show even bigger and better."

Ms Adam's motion reads: “That the parliament congratulates the Buckie Classic Car Show organisers and volunteers on another successful show in 2021; recognises the hard work, dedication, and passion that goes into organising the event; commends all who attended for helping to raise over £3000 towards local and national charities, and applauds the positive impact that free, community-led events have on the local economy and, more importantly, the positive sense of community they help nurture.”
