THERE was a sweet taste to life for staff at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin thanks to a donation by 1st Company Buckie Boys' Brigade.

While the coronavirus lockdown may have put paid to a number of events on the BB calendar, the snacks which would have otherwise gone to waste have been put to good use for busy medical staff in the frontline of the battle against Covid-19.

Jenny McIntosh, an officer with the company, said: "We had been due to host a cross country event here in Buckie on March 21, which was postponed due to the coronavirus.

"As part of the day we had bought a range of snacks which we had intended to sell in a tuck shop on the day of the event.

"We had also been building up a stock of snacks with a view to the summer camp on June 6 and the trip to London on July 11 and we soon realised that these, along with the food intended for the cross country, were going to go out of date before there was any realistic chance of us being able to use them.

"I knew that the mum of one of the boys, Jayne Goodall, is a nurse at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin so we thought it would be a good idea to donate the snacks to them. Like everyone else we're so grateful for what the NHS is doing for us as in these difficult times, we're delighted to help them out in some small way."
