THE gull menace afflicting communities across the north-eat is to take centre stage at a virtual public meeting.
Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam has pledged to hold an online meeting on the matter, and is encouraging constituents who have encountered problems with gulls to get in touch with her.
She said: "This is without a doubt one of the key issues that’s become apparent since I was elected in May and I intend to do everything I can to help tackle the issue within my role as an MSP.
"Whether you are being woken by gull noise, having your doors and windows regularly splattered, property damaged, or have to cope with an aggressive gull protective of its nest, I understand the impact it’s having on so many along the coast.
"Therefore, it’s my intention to have a public virtual meeting. This will allow everyone who has contacted me the opportunity to voice their thoughts. I am currently planning this meeting and my office will notify everyone who has emailed me about the issue as soon we have this organised.
"So far I have been in touch with the chief executives of Aberdeenshire and Moray Councils asking what they are currently doing to address this urgent issue. I will update those who have been in touch as soon as the councils respond.
"What I’m seeking is a collaboration between all parties so we can achieve something tangible, especially into next year and beyond. Realistically this will be a challenge that could take years to get under control. Someone needs to do something about this and I’m willing to try my best to do just that."
