A MODERN “tin box” extension to the rear of an “imposing, landmark”
Category B-listed building in Banff has been approved by councillors.
The new building will be part of a project by the Riverside Christian Church group to revitalise the vacant Trinity and Alvah Church in Castle Street.
The Riverside members, who occupy the former nearby kirk hall, aim to create a multi-purpose hall for them and the community, with the extension at the rear set to provide offices, toilets and other facilities.
The 1843 church has been lying empty since the 1990s, and the latest plans involve converting the premises into a base for counselling, a mother and toddler group, and training and accommodation space for youth, music and arts events.
