POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision which occurred at 6.20am, Tuesday 31 August 2011 on the A96 near the Ashgrove Filling Station, Huntly.

Police fire and ambulance attended the collision which involved a southbound red Fiat van driven by a 24-year-old man from the Moray area and a northbound Citroen van driven by a 38-year-old man from Aberdeen. Both were taken to hospital in Aberdeen.

Inspector Ian Kirkwood of the Road Policing Department said: "The A96 is reasonably busy at that time of the morning and I would ask that if anyone saw either of the vehicles travelling towards the scene or the actual collision itself to get in touch with us."

The A96 was closed for several hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
