A WHITEHILLS pensioner has told how a distressed naked teenager banged on his house for help after his boat capsized nearby – claiming the life of 18-year-old Jake Miller from Turriff.

Bill Michie (81), of 34 Seafield Street, was awoken in the early morning of Friday by loud bangs at his door and was met by a wet and shivering young man covered in blood.

The 17-year-old had been on a small fishing boat with Jake and another 17-year-old man, travelling from Banff to Whitehills when it overturned.

Unlike the other two, Jake failed to swim to shore and is still missing despite an extensive search by rescue services.

Mr Michie told the ‘Banffshire Journal’: "At about 1am I was awoken by banging on my front door, shouting and the ringing of my door bell.

"When I opened the door I was met by a really distressed young man in his late teens, who was naked and shivering and looking to be suffering from hypothermia.

"His body was also covered in blood because he had been on the rocks.
