AFTER less than two years of being set up, the 1st Marnoch Scout Troop will be making its first international trip.
The adventure to Denmark is set to take place in July with more than 20 scouts and four leaders set for the educational voyage, which will include learning about Vikings and being taught how to sail and navigate vessels in open waters.
They will also visit their twin scouting troop of KFUM Bryndum Gruppe, who are based in Esbjerg, Denmark – after first starting to communicate when the Aberchirder based group first set up.
Claus Nielsen, leader of the 1st Marnoch Scout Troop, said: "This will be the first time outside the UK for lots of our Scouts.
"Since 1st Marnoch Scouts in Aberchirder started nearly two years ago we have been working towards this trip."
The troop, which already has a waiting list for prospective scouts, has so far managed to raise about half of their £10,000 goal, with coffee mornings, a mini local three-peak challenge and a soap-box race planned for later this year.
Claus added: "We hope to raise as much as we can ourselves, I would hate for the Scouts not get to go because of their financial position."
