A MAN and a boy were airlifted to hospital after both were injured in a freak accident in Crovie on Wednesday night.

The man is believed to have had the seven-year-old perched on his shoulders when the pair plunged around 10ft from a sea wall.

The youngster suffered head injuries and the man sustained a broken elbow.

The two were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after an ambulance had taken them from Crovie to nearby Bracoden Primary at Gardenstown where the helicopter had landed above the steep slopes of the villages.

The incident happened around 11pm, and police spokesman said neither of the injuries was thought to be particularly serious.

The 47-year-old man is believed to own a holiday home in Crovie, and the boy was with friends visiting him.
