A CHARITY event in memory of a Macduff man has raised £2800 for charity.
The fundraising event, which was held in aid of Alzheimer Scotland, was organised by Rob Barron in memory of his dad Robbie who passed away from dementia in March this year.
The event was held at Royal Tarlair Golf Club and included music by the band Half Cut, lots of dancing and a raffle.
Robbie was well-known and loved member of the Macduff community.
He was the local bus driver for many years and whilst living with dementia he gained support by attending some of the Alzheimer Scotland groups in the area.
One of these was the Deveron Diners where he enjoyed a good dance.
The event raised £2800 which has been donated to Alzheimer Scotland North Aberdeenshire Services.
Laura Crockatt, a dementia advisor for Alzheimer Scotland was presented with the cheque by Robbie's son Rob as they returned to the golf club.
Laura said: "It is an incredible amount that has been raised and everyone here at Alzheimer Scotland would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in making this happen, especially to Rob and his family and friends.
"I would also like to say it was a pleasure to have met Robbie, even though it was only on a few occasions, he was a lovely kind man and a great dancer.
"His son Rob said they had received donations for raffles and squares from his work at Macduff shipyards who contacted their suppliers, and from local businesses.
"It was a great community effort and he was left speechless by the amount of support and generosity from local people."
