Fordyce, Portsoy and Whitehills are set to benefit from £21,000 of Aberdeenshire Council cash to fund work aimed at preventing residents’ homes being destroyed by floodwater again.

The move has been welcomed by Banff and District councillor Ian Gray, but he says more work needs to be done involving the council and landowners Seafield Estates in Portsoy.

He said: "I am pleased with the work that has been done so far on the flooding issues in Fordyce, Portsoy and Whitehills.

"However, there are still drainage issues at fields near the Kirk Wood in Portsoy, but we have got to be mindful of the tight budget situation we are in.
