A RALLYING call has been made for the community to get involved with a heritage project that is part of plans to regenerate Banff and Macduff.
A heritage trail has been created for the twin towns with new information panels having been installed at various points of interest in the communities.
An accompanying online resource has also been set up at www.banffmacduffheritagetrail.co.uk and members of the public are being invited to submit any piece of history connected to the towns they may possess.
The project is being led by regeneration project officer Naomi Mason who said: "We want to collect information on objects, architecture, buildings or scenes which will help to tell the stories of the towns.
"We are also interested in things that used to be part of life but are no longer here such as the railways.
"It will all connect with the new information panels that have been installed in the towns, which aim to provide more details of certain points for visitors and locals alike.
"We have a steering group that includes community and heritage members which has shaped the project from the beginning. We have also started working with pupils from Banff Academy.
"The online resource will feature information about the regeneration projects in the towns, a business directory and an events page."
People who would like to get involved with the project are being asked to send their images and around 250 words which explain what it is and why it is important to the history of the twin towns.
They will all be collated and will be showcased on the website. They can be emailed to banffandmacduffheritagetrail@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
Ms Mason added: "What we do today creates the heritage of the future and 2018 was a busy year for Banff and Macduff.
"There were some really great developments in both towns, and there have been some minor setbacks as well.
"The community worked together to give us beautiful Christmas lights, a summer filled with colourful flowers, a poignant tribute marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and many fundraisers."
