Jason showed how it can be done by defeating Bill Allan, then father Colin in quarter-final, and finally Lee Collins, to reach the final. His opposition, in the final, was Alan Rough, who was a Scottish trialist this year. He like many others would win Club titles, but the determination, concentration and skill ability in winning against a top World ranked player is what he was up against.

Alan did well to get past Gary MacDonald, then Lee Mair and finally Bruce Stewart, in the semi-final. Bruce is one of the most improved players this year.

The final match showed Jason at his best. He drew well, just beating Alan when he was near the jack, and whatever Rough did Banks beat it. Jason raced to an early lead, and never let Rough back in the game. Jason raced to a fine win at the 18th end restricting Rough to just five winning ends.

A sporting Alan Rough said he admired Jason’s fine play, but he was well beaten on the day. Jason has next winter an entry into the Scottish Singles playdowns, the first rounds of which will be in the north of Scotland first.
