DOG owners who refuse to remove their pet’s mess have been warned to clean up their act.

Buckie Community Warden Iain Sneddon, along with his colleagues across Moray, have unveiled their "Grab it, Bag it, Bin it" campaign aiming to drive down instances of dog fouling and persuade the public to play their own vital role.

"‘Grab it, Bag it, Bin it!’ will see targeted patrols in hotspot areas identified by the public, along with hopefully roadshows around the area as well," he said. "We’ll also be promoting the Green Dog Walker scheme which encourages owners or dog walkers to pick up their dog’s mess and dispose of it responsibly.

"The vast majority of dog owners or walkers fall into this category, it’s the small minority who spoil it for the rest.

Dog fouling carries a £40 on-the-spot fixed penalty notice, rising to £60 if not paid within 28 days.

Dog fouling should be reported to the Community Safety Team on (01343) 563322 or 563134, or via email on antisocialbehavious@moray.gov.uk
